EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: May corn is down 3 1/2 cents per bushel,
May soybeans are down 1 3/4 cents, May KC wheat is down 7 3/4 cents, May
Chicago wheat is down 5 1/2 cents, and MIAX May Minneapolis wheat is down
0.0600 cents.
CME GLOBEX RECAP: On Monday, May corn rose by 1 3/4 cents, May soybeans rose
by 3 1/4 cents, and May KC wheat declined by 7 1/2 cents. Added rainfall
chances weighed on the wheat market. Before Monday, the corn market had closed
lower in five of the last six sessions. Soybeans had technical support on
Monday. Corn, hard red winter wheat, spring wheat, and soybean basis remained
steady on Monday, while soft red winter wheat basis strengthened. Tuesday is
expected to be a quiet day for reports, with investors and traders closely
monitoring developments in the Middle East, especially as President Trump's
deadline for Iran to agree to a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz approaches
at 7 p.m. CDT Tuesday. U.S. and regional mediators reported on Monday that Iran
rejected a proposal to end hostilities for 45 days. Iran's counterproposal was
deemed "not good enough" by Trump. Crude oil remains firmly above $100 per
barrel as the conflict continues.
OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Monday showed the Dow Jones Industrial
Average up 165.21 at 46,669.88 and the S&P 500 up 29.14 at 6,611.83. The
10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.335%. Early Tuesday, the June Dow Jones
Futures are up 83 points. European markets are higher, with the spot futures of
London's FTSE 100 trading up 0.35%, spot futures of Germany's DAX are trading
up 0.97%, and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index are up 1.14%. Asian
markets are higher, with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index up 0.03% and China's Shanghai
Composite Index up 0.26%.
